In the event planning world, I’m used to expecting the unexpected. It keeps me challenged, engaged, and makes me a better planner. But in my personal life, sometimes the unexpected isn’t always a good thing.
April ‘26 Recap
Press Pause
I started this month eager to focus on marketing to potential corporate clients - but even the best laid plans go awary. If I thought I was being vulnerable in our inaugural March newsletter, I’m about to really wear my heart on my sleeve. On April 4th I got the phone call you never want to get: my dad passed away unexpectedly.

I spent this month back east with my family getting the estate in order. Taking a month off has been challenging on my fronts. Selfishly, I was worried that it would interrupt the momentum I was experiencing in March. But when life happens, you adapt and prioritize as best you can. This month, my mom became the priority, and I stepped away from the business and my personal life to support her.

Making my dad’s casket spray was not on my list for 2026
I want to take a moment to personally thank Charlotte of Knotty Hustle Florals for covering florals for our client 🙏🏻. It’s a terrible feeling to have an emergency with a client on the books. You want them to feel supported and to not let them down. Charlotte was able to step in for us and make two beautiful arrangements. She gave us peace of mind and on top of that, our client raved about how much she loved them!

I met Charlotte at a Long Beach-local program from the Women’s Business Council: BOSS. BOSS is a free monthly mixer featuring subject matter experts sharing their experience on the topic of the month. If you’re local, or even nearby, we recommend you stop by!
Looking Ahead: May ‘26
An Event We Shall Plan

I go to a lot of networking events - both industry and small businesses. The first industry event I attended I met another planner and asked for recommendations for other mixers I should attend. They recommended the Orange County Wedding Professionals (OCWP). Events On Cue notoriously does not do weddings, BUT, they encouraged me to pop in because of the connections they have made at past events.
Flash forward to March where I’m attending their mixer at the Marconi Automotive Museum. Early in the evening I met one of the admins for the group and, after hearing that Events On Cue loves a theme, they gave us the opportunity to be a sponsor!

We’ve teamed up with Event Designer & Planner extraordinaire Michelle Knutson of Belle Weddings and Events to plan the OCWP’s Star-Wars themed May mixer at OCMA! If you’re a wedding or event industry pro (planner, venue, or vendor), I’d love to see you there! The event is free to attend, but please RSVP so we can get an accurate headcount. Follow OCWP on Instagram to check out the full list of sponsors!

Vendor Spotlight: Knotty Hustle Florals
Knotty Hustle Florals is a creative floral design company.

We are artists and creatives and flowers are our medium. We love to tell stories through bold colors, vivd textures and unexpected combinations. We are still stunned at the way flowers transform a room and set the vibe every single time. From brand activations, to weddings and corporate events, we've been fortunate enough to let our ideas and visions run free all over the nation, from Better Homes & Gardens in New York to Don Julio Tequila in Miami and the NAACP awards in LA. We thrive in large installs and lavish in the details. We love a challenge and bringing clients' visions to life, no matter how unconventional they might seem.
